Wegener’s Granulomatosis

2 Jan
I never went into detail about what happened to my dad.  My dad wasn’t feeling like himself for about three months but kept that to himself until October 2011 when he got very ill due to his kidneys failing.  All of the specialists seemed to be baffled.  It seemed hopeless.
I found out the doctors had a name for what had been troubling my dad on October 16, 2011.  Actually, it was right after I finished my first marathon that I had a phone text waiting for me from my little sister with what I thought was fantastic news.  I thought, “thank goodness, my dad can start getting better now that the doctors knew what he was fighting”.
He had an auto immune disease called Wegener’s granulomatosis.
That relief was short-lived.
My dad had a stroke due to complications from a kidney biopsy on Tuesday, October 18th and ultimately died on Monday, October 24th 2011.
If my dad would have lived, he would have suffered horribly because of that disease.  He was a great man.  He was wonderful to my mom, my sisters, our families and our community.  He will be greatly missed.  His absence hurts.
Today was his birthday.  He would have been 63 years old.
Miss you Dad…

I Couldn’t Hear The Music.

13 Aug

Brucee had a tournament (actually both boys did but I was in charge of Brucee) so I needed to get my run in early or I’d blow it off .  Started  my run at 7:32am.  I ran 7.61 miles with an average mile of 8:23 a mile.  I went with no music as I feared for rain.  I actually didn’t miss the music.  The whole run was super nice.

Wearing some favorite Athleta shorts…

Being we’re dealing w/rain off and on all day, I was happy to wear my old J Crew wellies (with flamingos).  Brucee said I looked crazy but I think I looked cute.

Brucee kept mentioning his “toinament”.  He said it kind of excessively (probably because he liked the sound of it).  I asked him why he kept saying it like that and he said he wanted to sound like he was from New Jersey?!

Sometime today, my daughter had to get ready for a friend’s wedding.  She looked so cute in her H&M dress, I had to take a picture of her.

I think The Who would probably say her favorite blog (and mine) right now is www.Cupcakesandcashmere.com   Emily is so perfect but not too perfect where you want to hate her (ha ha hee hee ho).  The Who said she tried to do her a hair like Emily in one of her “how to”‘s  http://cupcakesandcashmere.com/how-to-beachy-waves/

Do you see the little braid she put in her hair…

The Who’s always happy and upbeat (don’t judge based on the above picture cause she was annoyed at my insistence of a picture).  I, on the other hand, have SAD (seasonal affective disorder) which a lot of people in Michigan probably have.  Weather like today (dark and rainy) really hits me hard sometimes and today was one of those days.  I took two naps.  I’m glad I got a run in this morning because it had to of helped me at least a little bit.  I have a lightbox but I don’t ever “feel” a difference after using it so I hate hauling it out.  Tomorrow’s going to be crappy poo like today.  Geez Louise! Girl can’t get a break.

Watching Lincoln Lawyer again tonight because I only watched it half-ass the other night.
